Under the hopeful heading, “Better late than never,” I’m posting our December holiday card in April. After being offline for months, my blog is operational again, thanks to Paul’s skill and persistence. Find the backside of the card on the next page.
“And it came to pass, we celebrated our 1st and 45th anniversaries in Oshkosh, Wis. In 1976, we moved for Paul to start work at North High. In 2021, after Annie’s election as bishop of the ELCA East-Central Synod of Wisconsin, we moved to be helpful. The Edison-Albrights live in Appleton, 23 minutes away.
“Walter (10) and Sally (8) are blooming in Appleton. This school year they attend in-person classes at a gifted and talented magnet school.
“Paul, starting year 34 serving in ELCA Churchwide ministries, enjoys his Oshkosh home office. Between the move and COVID precautions, Sue is mostly retired. Sam the Dog is serious about his job as chief snuggler and toy squeaker.
“This is a tender time for the Edison family as niece Teresa is in hospice.* It’s a difficult time for many. We join your prayers for comfort and peace.”
*Teresa died on March 3 from metastasized lung cancer. Find the slide show of photos shown at Teresa’s visitation, here. In an amazing demonstration of community, more than 1000 people came to the visitation and funeral, both held at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Annie led the prayer service at the visitation. After the prayer service, Fr. George Thayilkuzhitottu (pronounced Father George) invited Annie to help lead the non-eucharist portions of the funeral mass. Wow. It meant so much witness this shared leadership.
